They called the Esso gas attendant the Fat Man, he was one of the mascots from the 1950s and is a coin bank.  It's made of plastic.
 
The other piece is a gas pump, when you turn the center upside down, the liquid flows to simulate gas, it is a little dry from the years.  This is also from the 1950s.
