This is a vintage Shell 5 gallon can that we got from a local Shell gas station that operated in Dallas, Oregon.  We bought a pretty large collection of Shell items, and this can is in amazing shape.  It's empty and has the metal spout on it.  
 
There is some writing on the top of the can as you can see in the photos.
